SLE Rodeo

Southeastern Livestock Expo is not only home to the Jr. Beef Expo, but also to a rodeo. This year, AFC sponosored a bucking chute. Lauren joined me in Montgomery and we went to the rodeo Friday night, met up with her sweet family, got to meet 8 time World Champion Bull Rider Donnie Gay and attended the concert put on by The Park Band.

Saturday morning started out with mutton bustin', dummy ropin' and a whole lot of laughin'.

[sorry these are terrible quality on here]

My first time roping & I got 3 in a row!

Once the children's rodeo was over, Lauren and I headed outside to help with the Cowboy Cook-off hosted by the Alabama Cattleman's Association. Each team participating pays an entry fee and gets a piece of meat. They cut and cook one steak for the judges to determine who is the winner, then cook the rest of the meat for 'People's Choice' award. It was honestly some of the best steak I've ever had, not to mention the company was wonderful. People in the agriculture industry are more than just co-workers, they become friends.

Y'all..
Take me back...
Is it next year yet?

Once we had our fill of steak, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the rodeo and concert Saturday night. Since AFC sponsored the rodeo, we had hospitality room tickets so got there around 5 and had dinner. Thankfully Auburn isn't far away so a lot of our friends from school were there both Friday and Saturday night. After the rodeo, it was time for Rexton Lee Band. We danced the entire concert and had the best time.

One of my best friends, Courteney!

Hopefully this will be the first of many years I get to attend this event. I'm grateful for the weekend with friends and co-workers who share a passion for agriculture and this industry. Bring it on SLE 2016!
