War Damn Rodeo

Every year, Alpha Psi (the Veterinary fraternity) hosts a rodeo to benefit multiple organizations in the area. The main benefit being Storybook Farm, which is such a wonderful place where children with disabilities, physical or mental, can go and enjoy fun and games while learning horsemanship skills and knowledge. (We're actually hoping to do an episode for Simply Southern at Storybook Farm, so stay tuned for that!) The rodeo consists of traditional rodeo events such as bull riding, bronc riding and calf wrestling, but other than those events, it also consists of beer, overalls and a concert. I went to rodeo my sophmore & junior year of Auburn and thought I was done. Been there, done that, got the sunburn.

Buttttt, my best friend, Casey, is in vet school and asked me to go with her and a group from her class. Why not? Why not spend a weekend not worrying about anything but having fun, Brad Paisley being the concert headline was the icing on the cake. So we bought our tickets, we found our outfits and off to rodeo we went. Thankfully her friends from vet school are so welcoming and sweet. We had the best time!

Typical picture with Casey

Alpha Psi had a blocked off section with a perfect view of the arena to watch the events. We spent a good bit of time in the VIP tent before the concert started, you can't beat shade, food & beer at events like this. Speaking of VIP, we had the absolute best spots for the concert, FRONT ROW, literally 5 feet from Brad. The guy that gave me his +1 wristband deserves cupcakes, and cupcakes he will get!

My best friend!

It was a solid 12 hour day, and I guess we've gotten wiser in our older years because neither of us were hungover or sunburned Sunday morning! I won't say "that was my last one", because there is a huge possibility that next year, I'll be headed to the Plains for another round. I'm so grateful to have such a fun friend like Casey and be able to spend weekends laughing & making memories with her. Here's to 6 years of friendship and many more to go!

Auburn always has the prettiest blue & orange sunsets. You can't beat a weekend spent on the Loveliest Village on the Plains. War Damn Rodeo.
