The
AFC 79th AFC Annual Meeting has come and gone, but not without a lot of
planning, hard work and good times. We started talking and coming up with ideas
for entertainment, speakers and programs last fall and built on them for the
past few months. A lot goes in to a meeting like this: menus, seating charts,
audio/video production, room reservations, etc. Thankfully, AFC has a wonderful
staff and with everyone's help, it all went off without a hitch. Tuesday
started with prep and ended with a dinner for guests, senior staff and the AFC
board.
Getting the gifts unpacked
& ready
Wednesday started bright and
early with CFS and AFC board meetings, followed by a little more prep and a
quick lunch. Registration for the rest of the 300 guests started around 12:30
and wrapped up just in time for the Annual Meeting to begin. While the
staff, managers and board members are in the meeting, their spouses/guest get
to attend a special program. This year, we decided to do a paint party with
Uptown Art out of Montgomery. They were wonderful and everyone enjoyed it!
The whole group!
'3 Happy Trees'
As soon as the meeting and
paint class was over, the presidential reception started followed by the
banquet dinner. This is probably the most anticipated event of the entire
meeting because this is where everyone finds out who the Manager of the Year
is, which as our CEO says, 'is the best of the best'. This year, Chris Casey
from Jay Peanut Farmers Cooperative won the honor!
Chris and his family
Thursday morning ended the
meeting with breakfast and an agriculture economist speaker followed by the gift handout, Yeti 20 oz. tumblers!
Getting together with everyone is always so much fun and only happens about 4
times a year, but leaves me with a grateful heart and wonderful memories with
the company that has become family.
Xoxo,
Samantha
